Speaker Magazine for March 2008 has a superb interview with Richard that resonated strongly with me and, I believe, many Crafties. Patricia & I were speaking to Richard only 3 minutes before he went on: I don’t know what the f… I’m going to do! Richard told us. Fab! I thought.

Richard was superb, masterful, alive, an authentic blast of creativity. An exercise he introduced to the c. 130 speakers present was one I recognise from my own background, and one I have referred to only once in Guitar Craft, 20 years ago at the first GC course on the West Coast, in Malibu. Fripp & Fripp followed Richard at 10.30, after a 15-minute break. Patricia had the first 40 minutes, after which I joined her. Patricia is in command of her field: she understands speaking & the speaking world. I’m not sure about her Brother’s contribution to this world, and those present, on this morning; while noting that this is the second stage of F&F’s speaking process, and we know what this means (well, for the man at the back with his hand raised, the second step is the seeming-weakest stage in the process).

Buffet lunch was provided, the conference returning to Dan Maddux’ presentation, the first of the afternoon, on how speakers can use production techniques & developing technologies. Dan…
